The character of the Baudouin 500 kVA diesel generator comes from the mechanical layout of its 6M21G500/5 engine. Six cylinders sit in line within a single block of 12.54 litres, and the 127 x 165 mm bore and stroke give the unit a long-stroke working pattern. A 16:1 compression ratio keeps combustion steady under heavy load, while turbocharged aftercooled aspiration cools the compressed air before it enters the cylinders, allowing the engine to reach its 500 kVA standby rating.
